Yui Rail inaugurates

On August 10, Yui Rail, the first railway in Okinawa since the World War II, was opened to public. The new line links between Naha Airport and Shuri, with operating distance of 12.9km (construction 13.1km). The line has 15 stations, and trains with two-car formation run end-to-end in 27 minutes. I hope the railway will be a success in the transport market of Okinawa, where the road congestion is extremely severe. A thing to regret is that the system is a monorail, not a conventional railway.
