Last updated 12 September 2002 Train crashes in India, where bridge damaged by swollen river
At least 25 people died after a "luxury" train derailed on a bridge and plunged into a swollen river in India. While UK railways are less safe than the Japanese one, there are places where people should totally rely on even more dangerous rail services. India is apparently one of them -- since last year I have seen a number of serious accidents like this happening in the area. The article says there are 300 accidents per year in India! Later reports say that the death toll reaches 100. (added 11/9/02) Click here when the copyright notice appears on the images. TAKAGI, Ryo webmaster@takagi-ryo.ac (c) R. Takagi 2002.
