Last updated 13 September 2002 Shinkansen 'best fit' for Chinese High Speed Rail?
A high official of the Railway Ministry of the Chinese Government made a statement that "Shinkansen is best fit" for the planned high speed railway between Beijing and Shanghai, the report says. Currently German Transrapid maglev system is said to be on top of the competition for final contract. However, it is quite reasonable for the Railway Ministry to think that it is the technology too revolutionary to adopt to a 1,300km-long line. So, is this really the sign that there is still some possibility left for Japanese group? Click here when the copyright notice appears on the images. TAKAGI, Ryo webmaster@takagi-ryo.ac (c) R.
