New British rail speed record on CTRL (Channel Tunnel Rail Link)

In contrast to the troubled West Coast Route Modernisation, the Channel Tunnel Rail Link is showing a steady progress. In the widely publicised speed test this morning on the phase 1 section of the project, a Eurostar train (the same formation as the ones in service) recorded 208mph (335km/h), a record breaking run for the British railways. With this good news, the expectation towards its opening on 28 September has never been higher.
