Jarvis to pull out of rail maintenance

Jarvis, the largest track maintenance contractor in the UK rail industry, suddenly announced earlier on 10 October that they are pulling out of routine maintenance, the report says. Network Rail will take over the maintenance contract itself, together with the 3000 employees. Jarvis claims that there will not be enough profit when considering the risk of the accident and the damage it will cause to their reputation. Network Rail, on the other hand, seems to have welcomed the move. However, it will not immediately solve the problem when the maintenance works become "in-house". I do hope nothing goes wrong...
