Solid-state frequency converter

Around year 2000, JR Central commissioned REEAJ (Railway Electrical Engineers' Association of Japan) to host a study meeting on Tokaido Shinkansen's electric system. Because I was the observer of the meeting, this topic is something I feel especially familiar. I remember the frequency converter will incorporate IGBT converters and inverters, but the news release did not have enough information. Anyway I hope that the new system proves successful.
