JR East to cut first class (Green Car) fares

JR East, which is recently quite actively introducing new services, announced the reduction of Green Car fare by up to 49 %, the report says. In Japan, there is only a limited number of Green Car coaches (equivalent to the First Class coaches in Europe and other countries) in a trainset. For example, Tokaido Shinkansen trainset has only 3 Green Cars out of 16. The reduction together with the drastic increase in the number of Green Cars can be a good strategy.
