Last updated 22 November 2002 The map of railway tracks around BirminghamComposed on: 20 June 2002. (Larger image) The railways' track layout in and around Birmingham city centre. In the area surrounded by the rectangle, the shape of the railway lines are nearly precise; however, in the area surrounding this central rectangle only the connection of tracks are correct, not the shape. The tracks in this area are basically double-tracked. In the junctions normally railway lines cross each other in the same level, which causes level crossing interference between trains during actual train operations.
