No. 16 ... Dai-ni Edogawa Bridge of TRTA

Dai-ni Edogawa Bridge of Teito Rapid Transit Authority's Tozai
Line. Seven span "Warren truss" bridge go over Edogawa River where it is
impressively wide. The railway was inaugurated in 1969, linking 14km
between Tokyo and Funabashi with straight track, all elevated. Travel
time to central Tokyo was drastically reduced, and the area quickly
became heavily populated. Until 1980s there was a wide area of lotus
paddy in the left side of the photo; now TRTA constructed a new station
of Myoden there, which inaugurated January this year, and all lotus
paddy has disappeared forever. This change clearly realizes the ability
of railways in Tokyo to influence and build local community.
